This ambitious project is already 2\/3 ready. During the Angoul\u00eame International Comics Festival, in January 2018, we released its first version, in the form of a 32 pages comic (in English, and limited to 1200 copies). Now, te second version is available (36 pages this time!).<\/h2>\n

Lift<\/em> and thrust<\/em>: here\u2019s how my dad used to summarize aviation.<\/h2>\n

\u201cIf you have enough lift and thrust, you\u2019ll take off\u201d \u2026 adding: \u201cBut the real problem is the landing. When you\u2019re slowing and going down, it looks quite like a controlled crash!\u201d<\/h2>\n

Ever since I was a child, I heard stories about planes, and the pilots were legion in my family. Later, while I was working as a comic artist, I asked myself if I could write a story about planes and pilots, and something became clear very quickly: drawing planes is only worth it if you have a good pilot\u2019s story.<\/h2>\n

My dad always used to overdo when telling us about landing on an aircraft carrier in crosswind conditions, in order to add more context. And that\u2019s the big thing: additions and context. A good story is told by the pilot, not its plane!<\/h2>\n

A long time ago, I promised Jean-Christophe Caurette<\/strong> that I would provide him with an original story for his brand-new publishing house, but I had to wait until December 2015 to have the first draft of \u201cThe Kong Crew<\/strong>\u201d come to me. I say, \u201ccome to me\u201d, because this story really came to me in one night. In a dream. I saw everything. Just like in a movie. Right up to the title. And, surprisingly, my dream didn\u2019t disappear in the haze of the morning, as dreams usually do: it was still crystal clear.<\/h2>\n

On that morning, I called Jean-Christophe: \u201cI have a story to tell you: What if Kong<\/strong>, the famous gorilla, won in 1933? What would be left of New York City 14 years later?\u201d<\/h2>\n

Let me tell you that I did just like my father: I added a lot of details for the atmosphere and the context and, today, I\u2019m lucky enough to publish a little bit of my dream into a comic.<\/h2>\n

So, you might ask: what does it have to do with lift<\/em> and thrust<\/em>? Well, I would say that they are the equivalent to the author<\/em> and the publisher<\/em>: one lifts a project, the other one thrusts it, pushes it, and if everything is OK, it should take off\u2026!<\/h2>\n

Born in France in 1966, Eric Herenguel is a comic artist well known by the European public.<\/em><\/h2>\n

He created several sets of comic books, such as Kr\u00e4n, Trelawnay, or Lune d\u2019Argent sur Providence. As comfortable in the \u201cscience fiction western\u201d universe as he\u2019s in the steampunk universes, as good with off-the-wall humor as he\u2019s with heroic fantasy, he also worked on various TV cartoons for children, such as Wakfu, for Ankama studios.<\/em><\/h2>\n

A huge fan of Dave Stevens, Milton Caniff, Frank Robbins, Frank Frazetta, Al Williamson, Will Eisner and (of course!) Mark Schultz, Eric H\u00e9renguel wants, through The Kong Crew, to pay homage to the American artists of the golden age that inspired him ever since he was a kid.<\/em><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
