In these art books, you will mostly find black and white pieces<\/b>, and some in colour, all in Ashley Wood\u2019s inimitable style, combining grace, sensuality and humor.<\/p>\n<\/div>

I think the larger size provides the art with more presence and honesty. [\u2026] These drawings owe a heavy debt to Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, as well as Japanese Shunga prints. I hope my drawings extol my love of the female form, just as theirs did. <\/em><\/p>\n

Certain nuances and details are much more visible in these larger formats. The drawings presented here have not been retouched after being scanned. So you can see their qualities and … their faults, whatever they may be. <\/em><\/p>\n

I firmly believe that art must deliver a message to its viewer. The relationship between the image and the viewer is paramount. Well, I’ll stop here, because there’s no need for me to write you any testimonial or plea. I hope you enjoy your visit to my world!

Never heard about Ashley Wood? Allow us the pleasure of a small introduction: illustrator, painter,concept artist, comics writer<\/b>, he worked as a freelance artist as well as for numerous prestigious clients like Marvel, DC Comics, Image Comics.. etc. But don\u2019t think that drawing is \u2018all\u2019 he can do! He also worked on well-known video games such as Metal Gear Solid <\/em>by Konami, on movies (and tv shows), clothing lines and even better, a lot of great toys (Underverse)<\/a> <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s end this list by saying that two of his stories are currently being adapted for the screen. I am talking about Popbot <\/em>and World War Robot <\/em>(bought by Disney and directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, no less!)<\/p>\n

With such a background, Ashley Wood won a lot of awards: Spectrum Gold Award (twice), Award of excellence for illustration, Eisner Award, Eagle Award (trice), Designer Toy Award \u2013 Artist of the year 2011, etc\u2026.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
