About the artist
Bastien Lecouffe Deharme was born on the shores of Brittany, France, in the early eighties. His artwork straddles the cross roads of modern illustration, ancient myths and legends, tragedies and forgotten tales. Bastien employs various mediums, drawing, painting, and photography, in his digital creations, to create compellingly dark and symbolic pictures,Ā a contrast of beauty and decadence,
Deharme moved from France to the US in 2010 and teaches Digital Painting, Illustration, and figure drawing.
About the artbook
The book is a collection of Bastienās selected artworks curated over a 20 year period. He shares his favourite pieces, and provides insight and anecdotes as to how he approachedĀ the creation of his images.
He tells stories that give his rich interior world a public existence, drawing inspiration from cursed medieval symbols to the hybrid Sci Fi ā Noir film genre, finding that similar themes run strong between the lines.
