Caurette’s history
Éditions Caurette were founded in 2016 by Jean-Christophe Caurette, who lacked imagination and did not find a better name!
At Caurette, we mainly publish art books from great international illustrators. We also publish comic books collections for adults and children, including news releases, reprints and translation. Sometimes we bring out deluxe editions by authors with whom we have a special relationship.
So, to summarize, we publish a wide variety of illustration and drawing-related works, but always stuff we like! Besides, we import (sometimes exclusively) many art books for our online shop.
Éditions Caurette employs 14 people (in 2024) and generates 2 million euros in sales.
Born in 1970, Jean-Christophe grew up reading Astérix, Tintin, Lucky Luke and Gaston Lagaffe. Also with Les Oiseaux du Maître from Christin and Mézières, but thats’ another story to tell.
After studying trade, he worked for two years for Microsoft, then worked for 20 years as a director of corporate films.In 2012, he meets the Korean illustrator Kim Jung Gi and “accidentally” becomes his agent, before starting his own publishing house 4 years later.
He loves chestnut cream, hiking, Mercurey, Burma and making books.

Artificial intelligence
Editions Caurette does not publish ANY books produced, even partially, using generative AI software.
Since 2023, this clause is a major part of our contracts with our artists.
Behind each and every one of our books, there are real people. We are certain that the art we love and publish cannot be created by a machine or a software. Creation is a process that results from the combination of skills, urges, desire and maturation… Things that the machine will never know to create.
The artists
Before even working on projects, we work first and foremost with artists. Each book starts with a meeting, even if sometimes a few years pass between the first evocation of the project and its materialization on paper. Each book is unique, not only for its content but also because we try to create an object that really reflects the art and the artist within the book.
Quality
We publish very few books per year because we’d rather take the time to carefully work on our projects, and polish even the tiniest details. Our aim is for our books to stand out from the crowd, both in terms of content and presentation. For some books, especially the deluxe editions, we take the time check every book to make sure they offer the quality we want. Then each book is packed in a custom-made cardboard.
And if despite our efforts to make things perfect, you have an issue with the delivery, we are available by email or by phone (yes, we answer the phone! 🙂 ).

At Éditions Caurette, we cultivate a good atmosphere every day! Between weekly jokes on our white board, the culinary challenges and lunch breaks outside in the sun, we never lmiss an opportunity to relax.
You’d prefer to do a bit of sport? A game of badminton is often on the programme, or you can go for a run and, for those who prefer a nap, there are sofas available.
If you’re a cat person, you’re in the right place: the whole team loves feline and if you’re lucky, you can even pet the kittiesfrom the neighbourhood.
More of a food-person? You’ll be pleased here! The team really likes to cook and you’ll be often surprised with cakes or any type of sweet treats. And cherry on the cake (no pun intended), a summer raclette is organized every year!
At Caurette, we take every single opportunity to celebrate: Galette des rois, Easter chocolate hung, carnival, advent calendar… No event is left out!
